Greetings from the Arab world! I hope you can benefit from my experience as an adult webmaster over here. I began my hobby as a celebrity-imaging artist by making caps and movies of my favorite nude celebrities. As I thought more about my love, I thought why not make a website that would be home to imaging artists, where all the wonderful nude celebrities exist in one single place?!

I live in Egypt, an Arabic, Islamic and conservative country. I had to ask about the rules and the legal issues regarding such a project and sensitive subject matter. Luckily I found out that it was prohibited to put any adult-oriented material on an Egyptian server but it was totally legal to broadcast the website from an outside server, so I researched and went for my current United States-based server.

Of course, as an artist who makes celebrity pics and movies, I am a bit handicapped by some conservative rules and restrictions. For example, I cannot order a DVD with even a 16+ warning or that has any nude scenes in it for it will not pass through customs. So that limits my original work to what I get from my satellite dish, decoders, and digital networks. Luckily there is not much that anyone can do about preventing stuff from reaching most people with receivers!

My website has flourished with works from the newest DVDs, but the credit goes to the wonderful European and American artists on board.

I cannot deny that I faced many difficulties at first. Before I began my imaging hobby, I began collecting nude celebrity pics and movies. I had a large collection that I needed to put on my website. I decided to begin with 20 Gigs. I couldn’t ship my hard disk to my host for fear of damage in handling, and sending CDs was not an option. (This is prohibited as no adult material is allowed to pass in or out of the customs.) The only option available was to upload the content online over FTP. I am on a dialup 56k modem. I checked to see if there were any faster Internet connections available in Egypt. Apparently we had DSL, cable and T1, T2, T3, but those are way too expensive. I got a secondary rate interface ISDN. It cost me $300.00 and its actual upload speed was 25 k/sec. This was the only option that was affordable for me.

When I went to my phone company to install an ISDN box, they claimed they did not know how to do it, despite their advertisements otherwise. Basically, they were unprofessional and had huge management problems. To make matters worse, due to their misguided installation of the ISDN feature, they completely cut off our Internet. At that point, I thought about calling it quits, but told myself to have patience. I stalked the phone company until the issue was resolved, and it finally was. I started uploading the content to the server, which was provided to me by my web development firm as they asked.

It took me two months and a $500.00 phone bill to upload the content. After those two months, I found that my web development firm had not made any progress on my project. I had to find another firm. I searched and found the best development firm in the whole world. They are also good friends now, plus we have a long-term business relationship!

Now we had to transfer all the content again. Luckily, I still had access to what was the old server, which already had the content. I rented a dedicated server (which is still the current one that my website is hosted on now), and we started transferring directly between the two boxes. Two days later, while we were still transferring the data from the old server to the new, I got an email from the old server administrator. He said that my web development firm (the one I had already cancelled my contract with) rented his server for two months and did not pay him. He also said I should pay for his server usage for the previous two months or he would take it down. By now I had already paid the firm and refused to throw away more money for nothing, so I refused to pay. So again, I was forced to complete the transfer from my HDD, through my ISDN connection. I was able to finish the transfer on my ISDN in one month this time, as we had already transferred several gigs before the old box was lost!

Okay, once all the content was transferred, we were finally able to begin the actual construction of the website. It took one month of hard work from both the developers and myself, but we finally made it. Right now everything is working fine and I am totally pleased with my new site. I have had no cancellations from my subscribers and all of my feedback has been very positive. I even had one customer say “you are the best celebrity movie website online so far”. I really hope it stays that way.

So to sum up, it’s totally legal to run such a project from here and it’s a very nice job to have actually. I am having the time of my life now processing my hobby and getting to know people and make close friends with other cultures that I have only heard about! All of the hardships and stepping-stones were worth it in the end.
