There’s a Rob Ford Sex Tape? Ew.
By Peter Berton
TORONTO – Is a sex tape starring embattled Toronto Mayor Rob Ford on the market? Toronto Star editor Michael Cooke thinks so.
“The rumor is that one of the [three Ford videos for sale] is a sex tape,” Cooke told Canadian TV news channel CP24.
For those fortunate enough to have missed the reports, three more “Ford behaving badly” tapes are seeking a new home — for a price. Evidently, hizzoner the mayor is even more prolific than Teen Mom Farrah Abraham.
Late last year, the Toronto Star broke the news about the first video evidence of Ford smoking crack and making questionable-for-a-mayor remarks. Ever since, the paper has been dogged in its pursuit of further evidence to prove Ford lied when he called the video a set-up.
Excerpts and screen shots from two of the new alleged Ford tapes already have hit international media. One image shows an intoxicated Ford with a drug-smoking pipe. A video clip features a drunken Ford stating a wish to “fucking jam” Karen Stintz, his opponent in the current mayoral race.
The third is as-of-yet unseen. Is it a sex tape? No one knows for sure, but the possibility is horrifying Canada’s otherwise Ford-jaded media.
“Rob Ford Sex Tape Now Possible,” screamed a headline on the front page of the Vancouver Sun. Below that, a subhead called the alleged video “the one tape of the embattled Toronto mayor nobody wants to see.”
The Huffington Post, of course, picked up the story.
“Toronto Star editor Michael Cooke says that one of the videos of Rob Ford floating around is a sex tape,” the online news and opinion outlet reported. “Let that sink in for second. There may be a Rob Ford sex tape. We might even see it. This is what would probably happen.”
Commenters on Twitter were equally unnerved.
“Rumours of a Rob Ford sex tape aren’t ‘swirling’ so much as they’re ‘circling us like vultures,’” @markcritch tweeted.
@SteveinK.W. responded, “Please no. That is one Ford tape that can remain a secret.”
@LastWordBKerr added, “Please let Rob Ford sex tape rumors be false. Thats [sic] one crack no one should ever see.”
If there is a Rob Ford sex tape, chances are it won’t be as entertaining as Lee Roy Myers’ The Rob Ford Sex Tape — A Parody! Released in November, the witty spoof is available free here.
Myers, who wrote and directed the parody, told Canada’s QMI News Agency the response to the faux Ford sex tape has been “absolutely insane. There are a lot of people watching the video, there are a lot of people requesting the video and there are a lot of people commenting on the video. There is a lot of ‘Oh, gross’ and a lot of ‘This is so silly.’”
So far, Vivid Entertainment has not expressed interest in working a deal for a Ford sex tape, if one exists. However, late last year Vivid Radio’s Brandy Aniston offered to co-star in an explicit production with the Toronto mayor.
“He’s kinda cute, in a big, teddy bear kind of way,” she told gossip rag TMZ.
