Responsive Design can Pay Off for Cam Sites
LOS ANGELES – A recently redesigned live-cam portal offering larger cam views and easier mobile device accessibility already is generating feedback for both the operators and the models, according to a company statement.
“We built the responsive version of Cam4 to ensure our users have the best possible experience on all their preferred devices,” said Product Manager Gabriel Slater. “Our goal is to provide the full Cam4 experience on-the-go, without being tethered to your computer.”
Since the responsive design launch, the company has been improving the user experience based on consumer feedback and website analytics. The responsive version of ultimately will lay the groundwork for new features, Director of Marketing Justin Lowe said.
“Creating a unique and satisfying webcam experience for our customers has been our goal from the beginning,” Lowe said. “With innovative technology and design features, we’ve created a responsive and easier-to-navigate site, giving our customers an even better online experience so they can explore their sexuality with other like-minded individuals.”
The responsive design offers greater access to live broadcasts from any portable device. It also offers easy reading and navigation without resizing, panning or scrolling on many devices. The layout is adapted to the viewing environment through the use of fluid, proportion-based grids, flexible images and media queries.
The upgraded site gives visitors larger cam views and full-width chat for both desktops and tablets, as well as a new feature allowing visitors to access a model’s profile without leaving the chat. Other features include the ability to view the entire gift marketplace while watching a live broadcast, view more detailed information about tokens and how to use them, and access inboxes and private messages on mobile devices.
Launched in 2007, Cam4 offers a platform for straight, gay, bisexual and trans people to participate and connect across countries, language, sexes and sexual preferences. The site is available in 42 languages, reaching broadcasters and voyeurs in countries including the U.S., France, Brazil, Romania and Germany.
