Raven Rockette: Singer, Musician, Porn Star
By Peter Berton
LAS VEGAS – At age 19, Raven Rockette has performed in solo and girl-girl adult content for about one year, but she’s already put an indelible stamp on her work. Among other things, the raven-haired, D-cup bombshell with a slightly alt vibe was one of three women who shared the 2014 AVN Award for Best All-Girl Group Sex Scene. (Her scene partners were Gracie Glam and Mia Malkova in the Jennaration X/Jules Jordan flick Meow! 3.)
Even though her porn career seems to have left the starting gate in high gear, Rockette’s first love is music. Her main focus is singing and playing bass guitar as part of the band Kyo.
It was a struggle, but YNOT.com insisted she chill long enough to speak with us.
YNOT: So, you consider yourself more musician than porn star?[/b]
Raven Rockette: Music has always been my passion throughout life. Ever since I could talk, I’ve been singing. I also have been playing guitar since I was 11 years old.
I chose porn and the girl-girl side to also promote myself as a musician and an actress. I currently play bass for my friend’s band Kyo, and I write my own music on the side.
How did you get into adult?
I ended up coming across the adult industry while using Model Mayhem to get modeling jobs or photo shoots that were timed for print — building my portfolio.
My old agency, Motley Models, got me some pretty good shoots. Later I moved to LA Direct Models, and here I am now.
Porn took off, and I’ve been keeping my music fairly under wraps until I’m ready to start playing shows. I’ve recorded some things to put on SoundCloud, though.
What was your first porn video shoot like?
My first scene was OK, but it was very awkward. I don’t remember the name of the girl or her stage name anymore, but I haven’t seen her in the industry since.
My first memorable scene was with Lily Cade. That would have to have been my first actual girl-girl scene besides another one with a girl I can’t name.
What have been the high points of your career so far?
So far, the high points have been [performing in] Gia: The Lesbian Supermodel, being in a horror film with Andy San Dimas called The LumberJack Man, working on music with Rob Fusari, and travelling to the Exxxotica conventions in New Jersey, Chicago and Fort Lauderdale [Fla.].
With whom have you most enjoyed working?
I love working with Mia Malkova a lot, but I’ve had amazing one-time scenes with Veruca James, Lexi Belle, Dani Daniels, Zoey Foxx, Tanya Tate, Kiera Winters and so many other girls. It would be kinda silly to name them all.
So many great scenes all year, to be honest. I’m so lucky to have worked with a lot of the hottest girls in the industry. Super lucky.
Is porn paying off for your music career?
Yes, porn has helped draw a lot more attention to my music, mostly in porn movies. But it’s also given my YouTube [channel] a lot more views, which is always good. Exposure is so important.
What are you working on now?
Right now I’m working on stabilizing certain things at home, possibly a website within the next six months — hopefully — and possibly an EP [extended-play recording] if things work out.
And the future?
My future plans are to get my site working and to be selling merchandise on there as well as videos. Hopefully, I’ll also book some shows and maybe more. Just gotta see how things play out.
