Rabbit’s Reviews Revamps Site-Ratings System
YNOT – Since its debut in 2003, popular adult website ratings resource Rabbit’s Reviews has operated under a set of criteria designed to provide legitimate information to consumers while helping adult site owners maximize their traffic.
Nothing has changed about Rabbit’s goals, but the website review criteria have undergone a revamp, making the process more transparent for everyone involved. Owner Mantas M said a number of factors played into his decision to make changes, but primary among the driving factors was the evolution of the adult entertainment industry itself.
“Tube sites, with their enormous amounts of free content and easy-to-use interfaces, [now] dominate the landscape,” he said Mantas M. “Pay sites today must be at the cutting edge and more competitive to be able to charge consumers and survive in the long run. As such, we here at Rabbit’s decided it was time to change how we review sites.”
Key changes to the criteria include replacing hard-to-quantify criteria like Design and Navigation with a Usability score and outlining key factors for everyone to see. Values for main categories like Content Amount and Content Quality increased from 10 to 15 points to allow for greater differentiation between sites. The Value score was redefined to include considerations for content amount, quality and price. To satisfy user interest in both downloadable and streaming videos, up to five points are awarded for each, and a Features score was added to point out common traits that most high-quality sites share.
One side effect of the ratings changes is that scores have decreased for what Mantas called “the bulk of our sites,” but sites whose ratings declined were not judged capriciously or arbitrarily, he said.
“You will notice that the score for an ‘average’ site will decrease slightly from what it used to be under the previous criteria,” he noted. “The fact remains that while the ceiling has risen for what makes a truly great site, not everyone has caught up.”
He also said Rabbit’s reviewers are happy to take another look at sites whose owners feel the reviews are inaccurate.
