QR Technology Gains Another Porn Convert
YNOT – Quick Response technology is gaining ever more ground in the adult entertainment industry as an increasing number of adult studios implement QR codes on their brick-and-mortar packaging in order to more closely associate real-world and virtual product.
This week Digital Playground announced it has begun utilizing the bar-coding technique in order to enable consumers to learn more about the studio’s product by simply scanning a DVD package with a cell phone’s camera.
“If someone is in a store holding a Digital Playground movie, they can scan the QR code off the box cover using their smartphone and watch the trailer right on the spot,” studio founder Ali Joone said.
Digital Playground’s latest release, Top Guns, is the first to incorporate a QR code on its box cover. Joone said all future products and marketing materials will be marketed with the codes.
“QR is a phenomenal vehicle to deliver rich media and other data via mobile to end users,” said Digital Playground Chief Operating Officer Farley Cahen. “I’m confident that the ever-growing increase in smartphone adoption will cause more and more brands to take notice of and implement QR codes.”
According to Chief Executive Officer Samantha Lewis, “We’re proud to be on the cutting edge with both our movie productions and our technology. The QR code is just another way for consumers to appreciate the excellence that is, and always has been, our standard.”
