I believe this is because many surfers prefer to view pics in a gallery format for easier downloading. Is this a good thing? For the surfer who only wants free porn, yes, for the webmaster who has to pay heavy bandwidth bills to support all of those freeloaders, no. While TGPs have their place, and will be covered in a future Profit Project, I believe that for many webmasters, Pic Posts are a better alternative.
I have chosen a Pic Post for my first Profit Project as I have never built or operated one, nor have I ever submitted a pic to one, so this should prove to be a fun and exciting learning experience for us all… As with all of my Profit Projects, if you have any questions or something to share, please send it to editor@theadultwebmaster.com. In the meantime, let’s get started with an introduction to Pic Posts:
What is a Pic Post?
For those of you who are unfamiliar with them, a Pic Post is a web site that contains descriptive links to a variety of webmaster submitted images. When a surfer is enticed enough by the text link to click on it, he is taken to a page that displays the image, along with a text link, banner, or both, that when clicked, takes the surfer to the web site submitting the image.
What kind of traffic is Pic Post traffic?
Pic Post traffic can best be compared to TGP traffic in that both have access to a list of endless free pics, and an easy method to move on to more free pics if what they’re currently viewing doesn’t satisfy them. Pic Post traffic, however, is better than TGP traffic.
TGP traffic tends to perform so poorly because it is made up primarily of free loaders who wish to download your pics then move to the next gallery and download some more. Pic Post visitors on the other hand are often looking for something “special.” They are searching more for quality than quantity, and do not want to waste time downloading a gallery of poor quality pics. They want to see your best image, and if they like it, they’ll visit your site for more. If they don’t like it, then they’ll just move on to the next available image.
Surfers are drawn to Pic Posts because of the ready availability of free images, and since the images are “part of” the Pic Post site, they don’t have to deal with the “annoyances” (like pop-up consoles, blind links, etc.) often found on TGP galleries. If the Pic Post site treats its visitors “kindly” then they are likely to bookmark and return daily, developing a “loyalty” to the Pic Post site.
