YNOT – While an old song says pennies come from Heaven, a Detroit-area man found huge winnings sometimes can come from very unexpected places — in this unusual case, from a porn shop.

Mike Greer came forward Friday as part of a group claiming a $129 million Powerball lottery jackpot, the ticket having been purchased from Uptown Bookstore, an adult products retailer in a depressed section of Highland Park.

Greer indicated some of the riches will be going to a church.

“The only thing I can assume is that the Lord trusted us to do certain things with the money that He bestowed upon us,” he told the Associated Press. “That’s the only thing that I can gather.”

Greer, 49, didn’t say who had purchased the ticket or if it had been bought inside the porn shop or at its outside, walk-up lottery window. Many buy their lottery tickets without setting foot inside or getting a tantalizing view of the store’s sexual products.

Greer, from Farmington Hills, Mich., is self-employed. He would not give details about the others in the group of “more than two but less than 100,” except to say that most are from the Detroit metropolitan area. The group decided to take the winnings in a lump sum of $69.6 million instead of annual installments, and Greer told the AP “nobody cares” where the ticket was purchased.
