Porn Streams Hit TV via PS3, Blu-ray Players
YNOT – Adult video-on-demand provider AEBN has introduced what the company believes is the first product to stream high-quality adult videos to television sets using Blu-ray Disc players and PlayStation 3 videogame consoles connected to the internet via Sony’s BD-Live platform.
“This represents a huge breakthrough for both viewers and content producers,” AEBN Vice President Jerry Anders said. “It’s definitely where the video industry is heading, with over 80 million connected Blu-ray devices in the marketplace today and predictions that the number of homes with access to premium broadband video content via Blu-ray players and connected TVs will more than double in the next few years. Clearly, people want digital services.”
AEBN has worked for more than a decade to offer its video products via the latest technologies “so that our customers can watch films on a wide variety of devices and platforms,” Anders added. “Whether it is streaming, mobile or high definition, we have always offered a service that best suits their needs. Migrating online content from the computer screen and onto the TV screen is the next logical step.”
At launch, the new service offered “several hundred” adult movies, both gay and straight, and Anders indicated more will be added regularly. Customers may rent both individual scenes and entire movies through the interface. Content and trailers may be browsed by genre, title, stars and studios. Both high-definition and standard-definition content are available; pricing begins at $1.99 per scene and $4.95 per film.
