Porn Stash May Lead to Permanent Vacation
YNOT – A Los Angeles Department of Transportation dispatch clerk’s apparent lapse in judgment may lead to his dismissal after a supervisor discovered what has been described as a library of pornographic DVDs under the man’s desk while he was on vacation.
According to published reports, the as-yet-unnamed employee’s supervisor found six boxes containing a total of 600 DVDs in the clerk’s workspace during the first week in August. Many contained X-rated content, but others held non-adult movies including comedies and westerns. A subsequent search of the clerk’s desk uncovered shipping receipts and PayPal paperwork. An investigation continues, but LADOT officials believe the employee used his work computer to order the DVDs, which he had shipped to his work address — all during working hours.
The clerk also may have used the computer to view the DVDs during working hours, according to reports.
A 20-year veteran of LADOT, the clerk is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Although he is eligible for retirement, department officials could decide to fire him outright and rescind all accrued benefits.
This is not the first incident of this kind within the ranks at LADOT. One traffic officer was fired and another was reprimanded last year after the men allegedly appeared in a porn video while wearing their city uniforms. They also allegedly allowed an LADOT vehicle to be used as a prop. The incriminating video surfaced in April 2011.
