Lakewood, WA – Adult film star Mary Carey, who ran for California governor in 2003, was arrested during a raid on a new strip club in Tacoma, a suburb of Lakewood, Washington.Carey was among five people arrested early Saturday at Club Paradise. Eleven others were given citations, and all 16 were accused of violating the local cabaret ordinance. Some were fined for getting too close to customers, and others – including Carey – for touching themselves in a sexual manner. There were no charges or accusations of prostitution or other sex acts.

The five arrests included Carey, whose real name is Mary Cook, two managers, a dancer and the club’s limosine driver.

Shortly after Club Paradise opened in April, the police raided the club and issued about a dozen citations. One arrest was made.

The cases have been sent to prosecutors.

“We’re recommending that they revoke their license,” said police Lt. Bret A. Farrar. “We’re trying to send a clear message that were trying to clean up Lakewood.”

Carey finished in tenth position among 135 candidates when she ran for governor in California; Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected to the position.
