Porn Site Asks German ISP to Block Porn Sites
GERMANY — If any of the 2.4 million ADSL and 1.1 million ISDN subscribers of Germany’s Arcor ISP services want to check out Sex.com or YouPorn.com, they’re in for a shock: the sites have been blocked thanks, in part, to a complaint by a German porn site.According to Spiegel.de, Video Buster/Krichberg Logistik registered its objections to the ready access the sites, claiming that they do not work hard enough to screen their content from minors.
The YouPorn site requires visitors to affirm that they are 18-years-old or older and is already self-censored by Google Germany, but Krichberg Logistik – which just happens to own the adult website SexyFilms.de – contends that not only YouPorn and Sex.com, but other sites as well, simply do not have appropriate age verification in place before allowing surfers access to erotic materials.
SexyFilms.de, by comparison, is said by Blogoscoped.com to employ an assortment of verification checks, including “postident,” which requires users to provide proof that their identify card has been “witnessed by a post office employee.”
In addition to Sex.com and YouPorn, Arcor’s new policy will likely block other sites popular with German webizens, including Google favorites Yobt.com, Keezmovies.com, Babesdosage.com, and others that possess no age verification process whatsoever.
Blogoscoped.com reports that an Arcor representative had this to say on the matter, “We got hold of preliminary injunctions against the makers of these websites to either stop distribution in this country or meet the requirements of German youth protection laws.”
