Watch Porn on Sunday? Hell No
PITTSBURGH – Every second of every day, someone somewhere is watching porn.
Make that millions of someones somewhere.
One e-tailer has noticed a significant drop in sales on one day of the week: Sunday, which Christians consider a holy day that should be devoted to worship.
In digging through its server statistics recently, Adult Empire discovered an interesting phenomenon: not only do unique page visits at its website decrease by more than half on Sundays (from 19.91 percent of the site’s total traffic on Saturday to 6.58 percent on Sunday), but revenue from DVD sales and pay-per-view plunges, as well.
According to a spokesperson, Wednesday—“Hump Day”—is the most popular day for business at Adult Empire, generating 20.52 percent of weekly revenue. Sunday lags far behind, generating only 5.29 percent of the week’s sales.
“We don’t know if our customers are taking the day of rest literally or if they’re spending more time in church, but without a doubt, we get the least action on Sunday,” said Adult Empire’s director of marketing, Megan Wozniak. “We do well on Wednesday and Saturday, it gets quiet on Sunday, and then it’s back to big business on Monday.”
Adult Empire’s business has grown with the increasing demand for XXX over the past 17 years, Wozniak said. Currently, the company offers 150,000 streaming porn scenes and 30,000 streaming full-length movies.
