Porn Director Decries Lack Of Good New Kid’s Shows To Parody
LOS ANGELES – On the eve of the release of his latest porn parody film, HR Puffnpenis, adult filmmaker Skidley Rott took the occasion to complain about a “severe lack of good new kid’s shows” for him to parody, which he says has forced him to “aim deep within the back-catalog” of the children’s programming of yesteryear.
“Don’t get me wrong,” Rott said, “shows like Buddy Thunderstuck are not without their charms, but they’re no Sesame Street – although I must admit Butt-Buddy Thunderfuck would make a great gay porn parody title.”
As Rott sees it, the problem is “a dearth of new ideas” in children’s programming.
“It’s just the same old thing, again and again,” Rott said. “I mean, how many times can we teach kids about the importance of sharing, or that bullying is bad? Can we at least branch out into more nuanced territory, or recombine themes so kids learning about the importance of sharing their bullying?”
One of Rott’s most prominent porn-parodying peers, CV Joint Norelco, vehemently disagreed with Rott, saying there’s “no shortage of quality kid’s shows which are ripe for the porn treatment, if you know where to look for them.”
“Skid is a good guy who inches ever-closer to baseline competence with his filmmaking every year,” Norelco said. “But to me, blaming his flagging satirical inspiration on the source material is weak. It’s like if I were to blame the lower than expected sales of my recent superhero porn parody Blonde Cougars Who Love Big Black Panther Cocks on Marvel Comic’s lack of originality, when the real problem probably was my title sounds too much like an interracial MILF gonzo thing, rather than an opportunistic superhero porn parody thing.”
Rott is not without his support on the point from other parody directors, though – Jimmy Duskish says he’s “fully in Rott’s corner on this one.”
“Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like modern kid’s shows rely too much on cliché devices in their scripts,” Duskish said. “I mean c’mon, the Magic School Bus almost literally has ‘deus ex machina’ written all over it – in big, black, stenciled letters on a yellow background, no less.”
Asked whether he thought there was more legal risk to parodying children’s shows than other mainstream entertainment works, purported adult industry attorney Ernest S. Hitter said the answer is “a definite maybe.”
“The comparative legal risk of different kinds of porn parodies is very difficult to assess, especially when you’ve been up for six days straight doing meth,” Hitter said. “Maybe ask me again next week, or better yet, after I’ve completed my next stint in rehab.”
Adult film reviewer Richard Rawshaft said whether porn parodies of children’s show are legally risky, merely tasteless or some combination of the two, he’s “getting sick of the whole parody genre.”
“As I get older, I get lazier and lazier about writing porn reviews,” Rawshaft said. “Which is why I strongly prefer gonzo movies, because those I can review just by skipping through the video to see what objects the girls stick in which of their orifices, write up those combinations, add a few exclamation marks, pepper in some extreme alliteration and I’m good to go.”
