Porn “Bleed” Causes Dallas Motel Closure
DALLAS, TX — “That’s it — we’ve had enough of your shenanigans” seems to be the message the City of Dallas delivered to a motel earlier this month when it shuttered the property after decades of community outrage.Located on the slightly shady south side or not, there are some things residents and officials simply will not endure. “Porn bleed-over” is one of them.
Administrators at St. Phillip’s School had railed against the Colonial House Motel near Interstate 45 and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. since at least the 1980s. Law enforcement increasingly vented frustration about the crime rate on the property: 60 prostitution arrests and dozens of narcotics busts over the past three years.
But it was the parents of students at the school who finally succeeded in closing the motel when they complained about the way pay-per-view pornography viewed inside the rooms “bled over” onto their home television sets and cellular phones. Porn in public, especially in the vicinity of children, simply was not to be tolerated.
The signal problems were rectified December 18th, according to the local NBC News affiliate, but the gesture was too little too late.
