Playboy TV Documentary Series “Vivid Valley” Looks at the Porn Industry from Within
LOS ANGELES, CA – The first of 13 episodes in a weekly documentary series focusing on the adult industry will air on Playboy TV on October 1st at 9:30pm ET / 10:30pm PT. The series, which looks at the secret, behind-the-doors world of porn giant Vivid Entertainment, is titled “Vivid Valley,” and was produced by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, perhaps best known for their pop culture documentaries, “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” “Inside Deep Throat,” and “Party Monster.”The film auteurs were given unheard-of access to the largest company in the erotic video business and the result is a unique peek into the private and professional lives of its performers, as well as its creator, 42-year-old Steven Hirsch.
Mark F. Mauceri, vice president of Playboy Worldwide Programming credits Hirsch for using Hollywood-style performer contracts and marketing creativity in order to move his company and its stars closer into the mainstream limelight.
“Over the last few years,” Mauceri explains, “Steve Hirsch’s Vivid Entertainment has been almost singly responsible for propelling adult entertainment into the mainstream with crossover stars like Jenna Jameson and massive billboards towering over Times Square.”
Mauceri believes that viewers will find that the series’ provides them with an “intimate look at the company’s gritty inner workings.”
According to co-director Bailey, his latest collaborative documentary series was not an easy sell, and only Playboy TV had “the considerable courage and artistic commitment” to broadcast it.
Supported by “webisodes” as well as podcasts on the WorldofWonder.com daily blog, “Vivid Valley” looks at the daily and professional lives of the Vivid Girls, revealing their opinions about subjects as diverse as plastic surgery, drug addiction and recovery, parenting, religion, and love. It will feature some of the biggest names in high production adult video, including Jameson, Briana Banks, Sunrise Adams, Mercedez, Tawny Roberts, Savanna Samson, Hirsch, and directors Paul “PT” Thomas, and Chi Chi LaRue.
