Playboy Adds Digital, Revenue Executive Positions
LOS ANGELES – Playboy Enterprises Inc. has created two new executive positions and filled them with publishing-industry veterans as part of a plan to expand the company’s profile in the digital realm and boost revenues by integrating opportunities across its varied market verticals.
Matthew Mastrangelo will serve as chief revenue officer, and Cory Jones has been named senior vice president of digital content.
Mastrangelo, a graduate of Bethany College, previously served as publisher for RollingStone and Men’s Journal, as well as associate publisher of Condé Nast’s SELF. He will oversee the development of integrated advertising and promotional packages designed to generate increased revenue across print, digital and event holdings.
“Matt brings with him a wealth of experience and success across multiple print and digital titles,” said David Israel, Playboy’s president of media. “We will look for him to lead our sales force and closely collaborate with our creative and editorial teams as we continue to expand our digital media offerings, evolve the magazine and create one-of-a-kind events for our partners.”
Jones, whose resume includes stints as editor-in-chief at Mandatory.com and online editorial director for Maxim, will oversee expansion of Playboy’s digital portfolio. He holds a degree from Concordia University.
“Cory is one of the most ingenious content creators in our business,” Chief Content Officer and Editorial Director Jimmy Jellinek said. “As we refocus our digital strategy, I can think of no better executive to have watching over our digital portfolio.”
