YNOT – Nothing says “grassroots” quite so clearly as an adult entertainment studio putting its resources behind a proletariat revolt. On Tuesday, Van Nuys, Calif.-based Pink Visual added a new dimension to what has become a tradition of political activism by joining the so-called Occupy movement.
Pink Visual’s first radical act was to release a video expressing solidarity with Occupy protestors and detailing the studios’ efforts to bring about positive social and economic change.
“The video is our way of showing support for the Occupy movement and to say we’ve had enough with the status quo, too,” said President Allison Vivas. “It’s high time the powers that be heard the voice of the people, a righteous chorus of which the voice of Pink Visual is now a part.”
The video [probably NSFW, unless you work in porn] addresses a variety of points that are salient to the ongoing socioeconomic policy debate sparked by the Occupy movement. Among them are the federal government’s bailout of major financial institutions, the role of private mortgage brokers in the subprime housing loan debacle, the contentious issue of “corporate personhood” and the questionable merits of “trickle-down” economics. Vivas also penned a five-point plan to help turn the country around.
“I’m not an economist, but given how completely wrong most economists were about the stability of the U.S. economy back before the housing bubble burst, maybe that’s a good thing where my plan is concerned,” Vivas said. “I know enough to realize that handing out [to Wall Street] $700 billion with no strings attached was not such a great idea, at least.”
In addition to common-sense suggestions for fixing the parts of the American economy Occupiers perceive as broken, Vivas’ plan proposes lack-of-action penalties that would subject politicians and corporate chieftans to real-world approximations of the torture they’ve visited upon hundreds of thousands of everyday Americans.
