Pinedale Forum Taking “Back To Basics” Approach For 2018
PINEDALE, Wyo. – With much of the online adult industry heading to The Phoenix Forum this week, the man behind the industry’s second-favorite late March institution, the Pinedale Forum, is chomping at the bit to kick off his show.
“Those Phoenix Forum folks won’t know what hit them,” said Reggie Cheney, chief executive officer for Adult E-Vents Ltd. and organizer of the Pinedale Forum. “Come next week, the only adult tradeshow anybody is going to be talking about is the Pinedale Forum, because it’s just going to be that good.”
Along with a return to the show’s original location (the event spent the last few years switching between small venues outside of Wyoming), Cheney is pledging “a thematic return to roots of what made adult tradeshows great in the past.”
Pressed for details as to what would be new and different at this year’s Forum, Cheney said he was going to “focus on big fun, bigger money and the biggest biz” at this year’s event.
“I’ve been reading about some of the topics people are holding seminars about at other shows, and they just sound like a big snooze-fest to me,” Cheney said. “I mean, all this talk about ‘cryptocurrency’ – really? Like anybody in the porn industry cares about the money used on Superman’s home planet. Give me a break!”
In keeping with the show’s theme – “Back to Basics” – Cheney said his event’s seminars will devote significant time and attention to “time-honored techniques and approaches” which made the online adult industry profitable in the first place.
“At other shows, you’re going to hear all sorts of speculative stuff about VR and AR and XR and PR and all kids of other Rs which may or may not ever earn you a dime,” Cheney said. “At Pinedale, we’re going to talk about things we know are winning ideas – like thumbnail gallery post sites, ‘picture of the day’ features which keep surfers coming back for more, adult link exchanges, buying non-targeted, unfiltered email lists and getting good listings on Excite, Alta Vista and the other major search engines.”
Cheney said his focus on fun shouldn’t be interpreted to mean his show will avoid weighty subjects, or controversial territory.
“When it comes to the #MeToo movement within the adult industry, I want Pinedale to lead the way,” Cheney said. “That’s why every time someone posts ‘I’d hit that’ on a message board in response to a picture of a hot chick, you’ll always see a follow-up post from me, saying ‘#MeToo, bro!’”
Cheney said this year’s slate of legal panels will feature “only the best, top-notch” attorneys addressing “well-established issues of importance to the industry.”
The first legal seminar on the Pinedale slate this year is “2257: The Nightmare That Could Have Been,” in which a panel of distinguished attorneys will explain why it wasn’t an outrageous waste of money to seek their advice on 2257 compliance over the last 20 years.
Tried and true online adult business advice is also on the menu at Pinedale, with seminars including the upsell marketing-focused “Hidden Pre-Checked Cross Sales: Highly Profitable and Very Hard for Litigators to Spot Without Assistance” and the timely email-based promotion advice session “Spam Your Way into the Fortune 500.”
In terms of parties, networking opportunities and other events, Cheney said his event will “take a back seat to nobody” when it comes to letting the good times roll.
“Let the other shows arrange car races, golf tournaments and prepackaged group-networking sessions,” Cheney said. “We know what really gets adult entrepreneurs going, and really encourages both epic fun and productive business discussions – and that’s fly fishing on the Green River with a cooler full of delicious Keystone Light at your side.”
