Pineapple Support Launches Support Group for Parents and Caregivers
Pineapple Support, the adult industry’s leading mental health nonprofit, will host a free support group for parents and caregivers in the adult industry. The six-week support group, provided by therapist Michele Karban, will begin on October 6th and aims to explore the issues that come along with being a parent or caregiver in the adult industry.
“This group is for any parent or carer working within the adult industry, who would like to explore their parenting issues and worries in a shared space,” says Karban. “We want to provide a space where you can talk about your experiences and get feedback and support without being judged or criticised. And in doing so reduce feelings of isolation, improve your relationship with your child or children, gain resources, ideas and feel positive as a parent!”
Pineapple Support was founded in 2018 by British performer Leya Tanit, in response to losses in the adult industry from depression, addiction and other mental illnesses. The organisation, which is a registered 501(c)3 tax-deductible qualifying charity in the US and a registered charity in the UK, has so far connected over 1500 adult performers with mental health services, including free and low-cost, therapy, counseling and emotional support.
“Being a parent or caregiver in the industry can come with its challenges,” says Pineapple Support founder Leya Tanit. “Michele is an excellent therapist and has been involved with Pineapple Support since the very beginning. Her experience of working with children, teenagers and adults spans over 25 years. I know this support group is going to be incredibly useful to help parents and carers in a safe, nurturing space.”
The Adult and Carer Support Group begins on October 6, 2020 at 12:30PM EST, and will take place online each Tuesday at the same time until November 10th. For more information and to secure a place, visit Pineapple Support.
