Pineapple Support to Host Grief and Loss Support Group
Pineapple Support, the adult industry’s leading mental health nonprofit, is launching a free support group for adult performers dealing with grief and loss. The six-week Grief and Loss Support Group, provided by therapist Rachael Wells, will be held online and start September 2nd.
“This is a group meant to cover the heart of loss,” says Wells. “Grief and loss cover the range of tragedy, community strife, oppression, loss of a notable person or pet, trauma, and other ranges of suffering. We meet to learn about grief, come to accept ourselves as a valid, grieving individual, and learn tools to cope with the reality of loss.”
Pineapple Support was founded in 2018 by British performer Leya Tanit, in response to losses in the adult industry from depression, addiction and other mental illnesses. The organisation, which is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit in the United States and a registered charity in the UK, has so far connected over one thousand adult performers to mental health services, including free and low-cost, therapy, counseling and emotional support.
“Grief and loss can be incredibly complex processes to navigate, and we don’t want anyone in the industry to go through that alone,” says Tanit. “Rachael is a fantastic therapist, specialising in trauma within marginalized communities and provides quality, person-centered therapy. This online group is going to help anyone that is looking for support with their feelings around grief and loss. Spaces are limited, so reserve your place soon.”
The Grief and Loss Support Group begins on Wednesday, September 2nd at 3PM, and will take place online each Wednesday at the same time until October 7th. For more information and to secure a place, visit Pineapple Support.
