Pineapple Support Offer Free Mental Health Support During AVN
Pineapple Support, the adult industry’s leading mental health non-profit, will be offering free, on-site mental health support at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas. From Wednesday, January 22 through Friday, January 24th, mental health professionals will be accessible at the Pineapple Support suite in the Hard Rock Hotel’s Casino Tower.
The organisation will also be hosting free workshops, sponsored by Kink.com and Clips4Sale on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening:
Mental Health In The Adult Industry
Wednesday 22nd at 6pm
Self-Care With Intention
Thursday 23rd at 6pm
Happiness
Friday 24th at 6pm
Each workshop will include open-ended discussions during which performers can discuss issues that affect them, and learn strategies for dealing with stress, depression and other issues. As with the private sessions, all workshops will take place in the Pineapple Support Suite in the Casino Tower.
“It’s incredibly important to have professionals and services that are sex worker affirmative such a Pineapple Support to help foster trust and nonjudgmental support,” says Hernando Chaves, who will lead the ‘Happiness’ workshop on Friday. “Pineapple Support has shown to be a valuable asset to the adult industry community, providing mental health support and crisis intervention in a compassionate manner.”
Pineapple Support, was founded in 2018 by Leya Tanit after a string of losses in the adult industry from depression and other mental illnesses. The organisation, which is a registered 501(c)3 tax-deductible qualifying charity in the US and a registered charity in the UK, has so far connected over seven hundred adult performers with mental health services.
“I’m delighted to be returning to AVN this year with such a collection of support services to complement the show,” says Tanit. “Any model who might want to talk with a mental health professional prior to the show should contact us as soon as possible. Thanks to our generous sponsors Kink.com and Clips4Sale, we’re also able to host three workshops, which can be good starting places for anyone in the adult industry who wants to develop stronger mental health and self-care tools.”
Those who want to speak with a mental health professional during the AVN Show should text 702-849-4445 during support hours (from Wednesday to Friday from 11am to 7pm and Saturday from 11am to 4pm) to set up an appointment. Workshops are also available on a walk-in basis.
