Pineapple Support to Host Six-Week ‘Beyond Abuse’ Support Group
Adult industry mental health nonprofit Pineapple Support has announced that it will provide a free, online support group with a focus on abuse. Led by therapist Miki Anderson and sponsored by Chaturbate, the six-week “Beyond Abuse” program will begin tomorrow, Tuesday November 9 at 6pm EST.
“The ‘Beyond Abuse’ support group is yet another example of the excellent work that Pineapple Support does to provide accessible and educational resources to the entire adult entertainment community,” said Shirley Lara, COO of Chaturbate. “From Pineapple Support’s very inception, Chaturbate has been an enthusiastic supporter of the amazing goals and objectives of the organization in creating a supportive space for adult performers to feel heard, seen, and understood.”
Pineapple Support was founded by British performer Leya Tanit in 2018, after a string of losses in the adult industry from depression and other mental illnesses. The organization, which is a qualified 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization in the United States, reports that it has so far connected over 5000 adult performers to mental health services, including free and low-cost, therapy, counseling and emotional support.
“We’d like to thank Chaturbate for their ongoing support and generosity, helping to make events like this possible,” Tanit said. “Anyone that wants to learn more about how to heal from abuse, as well as those interested in supporting others in their community will benefit greatly from this safe and stigma-free space to explore the topic under Miki’s guidance. Miki is a fantastic counselor, with more than 10 years of experience and knowledge in the realms of kink and ethical non-monogamy.”
Following its first session tomorrow, the 90-minute “Beyond Abuse” support group will take place online each Tuesday at 6pm EST through December 14. For more information and to secure a spot in the session, go to pineapplesupport.org/support-groups.
