Phil Harvey to Deliver Keynote at Summer AVN Show
YNOT – Phil Harvey, co-founder and president of pioneering adult retailer Adam & Eve, will deliver a keynote address during The AVN Show, a combined adult industry trade show, networking and educational event scheduled to take place Aug. 5-8 in Hollywood, Fla.Harvey has been referred to as “one of the most influential figures in the American sex industry today.”
In addition to his entrepreneurial responsibilities at Adam & Eve, Harvey also is a philanthropist and a libertarian who has dedicated the past three decades to creating global non-profit programs that deliver subsidized contraceptives in poor countries. He is the president of DKT International, the Washington, D.C.-based charity that implements family planning and HIV-AIDS prevention programs in 15 countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America. He is also the chief sponsor of the Liberty Project, which raises awareness about freedom of speech issues in the U.S.
A graduate of Harvard College and North Carolina University, Harvey employs an operational philosophy that combines altruism with strong business models. Adam & Eve is one of the largest sex-product companies in the world, and Harvey’s share of profits from Adam & Eve support DKT International’s mission to make low-priced contraceptives available through business channels found in every corner of the world. Thanks to his efforts, millions of impoverished men and women around the globe have been protected from unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases and HIV infections.
Harvey will deliver one of two keynote presentations during The AVN Show, which for the first time will combine all sectors of the adult entertainment industry under one umbrella for what multimedia adult trade publication AVN calls “an industrial-strength [business-to-business] event.” The show will take over the entire 1,600-room, full-service Westin Diplomat beachfront resort for four days, giving attendees sole access to the 39-story oceanfront tower; bridged, glass-bottomed pool with waterfalls; cabanas and restaurants. Guests also will have access to the resort’s country club and spa, including a 155-acre golf course and tennis club.
“In orchestrating a show of this magnitude, we have not only taken all five senses into account, but also ensured that we are presenting something that is more than just a well-organized series of events,” a spokesperson said. “The AVN Show is about people. The community of which we are a part is precisely what powers this industry and what drives our business forward. More than ever before, our industry needs a place to come together as one in order to share, communicate, inspire and lead the way into the future.
“More than just a show, it’s an experience that delivers real, quantifiable results and at the same time provokes, entertains and excites.”
