Performers: Make Money on Twitter
YNOT – Social media has given adult performers and fans new ways to connect. Now a new platform called Red Hot Tweets allows performers to turn their social media interactions into cash.
Kelli Roberts, who heads Red Hot Tweets for parent company GameLink, said the program is the first she is aware of to give adult industry insiders the same moneymaking potential mainstream celebrities have enjoyed for some time. Celebs like Lindsay Lohan, Tori Spelling, Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and Holly Madison are paid to endorse products on Twitter. Now porn stars can use the same medium to earn while they build brand recognition and fan loyalty.
Roberts said Red Hot Tweets is tailored specifically to help performers promote GameLink merchandise. Every time a performer’s tweet generates a sale, the performer gets paid.
“I’ve worked with some great companies in my career, but no matter who I’ve worked with, I have always had the performers’ best interests in mind,” said Roberts, a 16-year adult industry veteran. “I’ve long fought to get adult film stars a piece of the retail pie, and that’s now possible with Red Hot Tweets.”
The site makes tweeting-for-dollars easy. Performers simply sign up for an account, choose the products they want to promote, write a few personality-charged messages and plunk the messages into a personalized “tweet queue.” The software platform does the rest, inserting affiliate codes and sending the tweets on a schedule the performer defines.
“Now performers can actually make money for just tweeting about movies they have been in,” Roberts said. “They deserve it, and I’m so glad to be a part of a project that can make that a reality.”
