Payze Makes Porn Pay
Morganville, NJ – Okay, so you’ve launched an adult website and people are starting to view your content; now what? How do you make sure that porn pays … you?
The answer could be Payze.com. Payze is an e-commerce service provider with deep roots in the online adult world, and strong knowledge of what it takes to successfully manage all aspects of an online adult business.
Former CCBill SVP of Sales Dr. Doug Wicks – he just goes by Doug – recently bought an equity stake in Payze.com, and now serves as the company’s CEO.
YNOT: Please tell us a bit about yourself.
Doug Wicks: I was born and raised in Bakersfield California. I started pole vaulting in high school and was really good. I ended up with a full ride scholarship to USC, was an all-American and ended up competing for the USA for eight years and was a three- time Olympic trials contestant. I have a Masters and PhD in sport psychology, and have been in the e-commerce world for 15 years.
YNOT: When did Payze come about, and what is it all about?
Doug Wicks: Hank Freeman, the owner of Sexkey.com and substantial domain portfolios, partnered with Joel Paulin who was the former COO of CCBill in 2006. Together they planned and devised the concept of Payze.com.
The idea was very simple, and that was to provide a true one-stop shop for online merchants at lower rates than their competition. Merchant accounts, affiliate tracking, detailed reporting and the new third-party processing coming shortly will make Payze.com the one-stop shop.
YNOT: What needs do you fulfill for the adult industry?
Doug Wicks: Payze provides an all-encompassing array of tools for the merchant processing side of the business. This includes a detailed reporting engine, a complete affiliate system powered by NATS that we feel is better than anything on the market.
We also have banking ties that give us the ability to provide some of the lowest rates in the industry, and finally a group of owners and partners that have very extensive experience in the high-risk adult arena.
YNOT: How do your analysts help your customers with their businesses?
Doug Wicks: Most clients have the need to sell their products in slightly different ways and gather reporting for feedback differently. The key to a successful relationship is to provide a large set of tools that these clients can pick and choose from.
Also, you must have the ability to create new tools and reporting quickly as the online sales environment evolves and changes.
Currently we have clients needing to sell tokens in a wallet system, so we have built and provide that.
Others have needed a true cable billing model where you can add additional charges one month and take charges away in other months, so we built that. Cancel discounts, upsells, cross sells are all part of the Payze tool set.
YNOT: What are your future plans?
Doug Wicks: The Payze.com third-party processing engine will be launching in the fall of this year. This, in itself, will be a great addition to our line of products. Additionally you will see new reporting tools, new banks and generally a lot more of us at the shows.
