SAN JOSE, Calif. – On June 6, PayPal will stop operations in Turkey.
PlugRush was notified of the change May 30. According to the announcement, Turkish PayPal users will not be able to send or receive payments. The PayPal notice stated the company has been denied a license by Turkish financial regulator Bankacılık Düzenleme ve Denetleme Kurumu.
The Turkish PayPal site notes (in Turkish):
“We are sorry to announce that PayPal is suspending its business operations in Turkey. Effective from June 6, 2016, our customers in Turkey will no longer be able to send or receive funds with PayPal. Customers will still be able to log in to their PayPal accounts and withdraw any balance on their accounts to a Turkish bank account.”
This means anyone who processes PayPal payments will need to find another way to transfer funds to and from users in that country.
PlugRush offers its publishers and advertisers a variety of different payment options including Paxum, Payoneer and wire transfer to withdraw and load funds. Other companies will find a workaround, as well.
A variety of alternate payment processors will fill the void in the Turkish market. PlugRush is working with Paysite-Cash, which allows credit card and other payments in both euros and dollars. We recommend the service.
PlugRush clients who would like to use credit cards may contact support for assistance in establishing that payment method.
