Pat Trueman Urges Prosecution of Gay Reality Porn Webhome
MIAMI, FL — Fresh from accusing convicted Red Rose Stories site owner Karen Fletcher of inspiring the rape, abuse, and murder of genuine children, former chief obscenity prosecutor for the Justice Department, Pat Trueman, insists that homes “where sex acts are filmed” cause “harmful secondary effects.”Not content to blame social ills upon the presence of brick-and-mortar adult businesses, Trueman wants to expand the scope of alleged “secondary effects” to include individuals and companies that do business without neighbors even knowing they exist.
Christian news site OneNewsNow.com asks readers to “Imagine that the house next door is actually the set of a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week homosexual orgy, webcast live over the internet.”
Having planted the thought of mass fornicating gay men in the minds of the religious, the site then expresses its outrage that the City of Miami has not shut down a private residence being used as a gay adult reality porn website.
“This is normally something that a city can prohibit under its sexually oriented business ordinances, which severely restrict where this kind of business may be located,” advises Trueman, who works as special counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, which claims to be “Defending Our First Liberty;” the “right to hear and speak the Truth,” on its website header.
“Now, the complicating problem,” he explains, “is that there is a U.S. Court of Appeals decision in that same circuit previously on a similar business that seems to indicate that a sexually oriented business ordinance would not apply.”
Trueman contends that “In the Supreme Court cases on sexually oriented businesses, the key is not whether customers come to the business or not; the key is whether there are harmful secondary effects. And with respect to this house where sex acts are films, you have secondary effects.”
Unfortunately for those hoping for concrete examples of these effects, OneNewsNow merely reports that Trueman lists pre-existing ills that he contends are caused by adult websites and other businesses. Among the list are sexually transmitted diseases and an inevitable loss of property values when the existence of such businesses is revealed.
Although Trueman advises the City of Miami to prosecute the webhouse and appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court if they lose, he is not quoted as having an opinion about the possible secondary effects caused by homes where sexual activity takes place but is not filmed… or where such films are shown one-on-one.
