Online Sex Auction + Unsafe Sex = Paternity Woes
STUTTGART, GERMANY — Pregnancy is all the rage these days, what with nearly every Hollywood starlet worth the spunk proudly sporting a “baby bump” and the hilarious potential involved with unplanned pregnancies fueling the scripts of at least two motion picture hits during the last year. But somewhere in Germany, a woman with a much bid-upon vaginal canal is filing suit to find out who got her knocked up.As Reuters tells the story, the woman – whose name, age, and nationality are being kept secret – had sex with six different men who “won” the right thanks to online auctions. While that, in itself, should be more than enough to generate conversation, the woman in question apparently didn’t actively participate in effective family planning and now has come to be in a motherly way.
With the seed of six different men having spent time swimming in her warm and intimate bits during the months of April and May, she’s not entirely sure who should be getting Father’s Day cards – or paying child support.
It would appear that asking the names of the sperm donors at the time of deposit either had not occurred to her or was disallowed, because she informed a court that all she knew were their screen names.
The judge hearing her case has granted her request to force the auction site’s owner to reveal the identities of the lucky winners. Previously, her requests for information had been denied, citing confidentiality reasons associated with the site’s terms and conditions.
Ultimately, the court concluded that the right of the once and future child conceived of this romantic union to know his or her lineage outweighed the rights of the so-far anonymous father.
Depending on how the men in question react to finding out they unwittingly became fathers, the woman may well find herself spending more time in the courtroom.
“The woman wanted to discover which one of the men had made her pregnant,” a representative of the Stuttgart court explained to Reuters. “So, she needed their contact details. Of course, if they’re not willing to go along with the gene test, she’ll have to take them to court.”
