Online Marketing, Social Media Seminar Slated for San Francisco
YNOT – Mission Control, a pansexual play group devoted to cultural, artistic and social evolution, frequently presents lifestyle workshops and special events at its San Francisco headquarters. In May, the organization will branch out by offering its first-ever workshop diving into online marketing and social networking for sexually conscious adults.
“What Rock Stars & Porn Stars Know About Online Promotion That You Don’t…But Need To” will be presented by marketing professional Michael Brandvold and public relations maven Christopher Buttner. Together, they will help seminar participants untangle the intricacies of getting attention in a virtual world increasingly busy with noise.
According to the presenters, among the concepts attendees will explore are:
- How to demystify press coverage by identifying appropriate media outlets and writing effective press releases with newsworthy hooks.
- Finding and communicating with reporters and editors.
- Overcoming fear and dealing with rejection.
- Writing promotional materials with an eye to snagging search-engine results.
- The relationship between websites and social media, and why both are imperative.
- Online promotional tips and tactics.
- How to customize and use the most popular social networking tools for maximum return.
Brandvold and Buttner have used the tips, tricks and techniques they will teach to design promotions, marketing and publicity programs for leading recording artists including Kiss, U2, Motley Crüe, Rod Stewart, Madonna, Ozzy Osbourne, Dream Theater, Orgy, Kid Rock and Britney Spears, in addition to adult entertainment companies including Gamelink, Private, Vivid, Kink.com, Playboy, Good Vibrations and The Exotic Erotic Ball.
Buttner founded PR that Rocks, an award-winning SF Bay Area-based PR agency in 1994, and Brandvold is the owner-founder of Michael Brandvold Marketing, which specializes in entertainment, technology, events and creative talent.
The workshop will take place from 7:30-9:30 p.m. May 25 at Mission Control’s San Francisco facility. Tickets are $20 per person and are available online.
The workshop “promises to be a lot of fun and will have you performing like a porn star and revered like a rock star by your peers in no time,” Buttner and Brandvold noted in a — what else? — press release.
