Oliver Wong Sets Personal Record with 5 Comedy Shows in 10 Days on Both Coasts
Taiwanese-born award-winning adult film director for Delphine Films Bloomer Yang aka comedian Oliver Wong is going for a personal record—he’s doing five stand-up comedy shows in 10 days on both coasts.
This weekend, Oliver Wong is bringing his comedy to the Big Apple as part of the Very Big Asian Comedy Festival vbvacomedy.com that runs Thursday, April 27th through Sunday, April 30th. It bills itself as “A Refreshing Festival You Didn’t Know You Needed” and features some of the best APPI comedians and up and coming comics. Oliver’s first show is Friday night at 10pm at The Broadway Comedy Club in the Red Room located at 318 West 53rd Street in the Broadway Theater District. On Saturday night, he’s performing his second NYC show at 9pm at The Pit for Honey & Roast Battle – Ready for This? in Chelsea and will go up against Chris Nguyen. The idea of the roast that the usual stereotypes have no effect, and the comedians will be digging deep and thinking smarter. In the last rounds the comedians will kill each other with kindness. The club is located at 154 W. 29th Street in Chelsea. Tickets are available at thepit-nyc.com/events/roast-honey-roast-battle-very-big-very-asian-comedy-festival.
And last week, Oliver did a whopping three shows in the Los Angeles area. He did stand-up at the Silly Cow Show at Junior High in Glendale, CA on Thursday, Asian Male Lead at The Stand-Up in Hollywood on Friday, and Teresa Lo’s Comedy Showcase at The Good Nite in North Hollywood on Sunday. All three shows were standing room only and Oliver got the most ha-has of any of the comedians that took to the stage.
“I’d like to say I’m going for the world record on comedy shows, but it’s more of a personal record of five shows in 10 days. I’m glad to be more in demand and invited to this comedy festival. If you’re in NYC, you should catch one or both of my shows,” says Oliver Wong.
