Officials Keep Hands Off Bubbles ‘n’ Babes Car Wash
AUSTRALIA — Australians seeking a more personal and entertaining way to keep their vehicles clean during the country’s water shortage can draw a collective sigh of relief, now that the Brisbane City Council has failed in its attempt to shut down the Bubbles ‘n’ Babes car wash.Warren Armstrong’s innovative solution to dealing with his country’s worst drought in memory while earning a living and keeping area automobiles looking their best was much like that of others: open a car wash using recycled water. He probably wouldn’t have drawn any attention had his employees been able to keep their clothes on. But then, clothed employees would hardly have promoted the Bubbles ‘n’ Babes brand.
Because of this naked fact, a furry of morally outraged complaints inspired the Brisbane City Council to see what Armstrong might be doing illegally. The best it could come up with was the possible exploitation of a licensing loophole.
Although authorized to provide workshop services, the car was had not specifically requested permission to, well, wash cars.
Much to Armstrong’s surprise, the council has backed down from its early intention to drive his business out of business, after local police and other officials declared nothing illegal about the bubbles or the babes involved.
Police bristled at accusations that the bureau allowed Armstrong to continue in business due to corruption and involvement with organized crime, pointing out that the wash uses recycled water and blocks its more lascivious activities from public view.
“We don’t want any traffic accidents caused by people looking at the girls instead of looking at the road,” Superintendent Colin Campbell informed the media.
This means that Queensland area motorists can continue to pay $55 US for a topless car wash or opt for the $100 US fully nude, lap-dance included version.
While professional car washes have become big business in the water poor area, in part because water restriction-related laws mean citizens can no longer wash their own vehicles, no other company has introduced such a novel approach to the problem.
