Obscenity Charges Filed Against New Jersey Man
WASHINGTON, DC — An estimated 47 million Americans live without medical insurance, but it’s DVDs sent from New Jersey that are making a federal grand jury in Newark sick. Obscenely sick, in fact.According to PRNewsWire.com reports, 58-year-old Barry Goldman has been arrested and charged with eight counts of using the mails to deliver obscene DVD content into Montana and Virginia.
Announced by Assistant Attorney General Lanny QA. Breuer of the Criminal Division, the indictment seeks all proceeds gained from the sale of the DVDs, as well as possession of all property used in their production and other property, including all of Goldman’s websites.
If pursued successfully by Trial Attorney Bonnie Hannan of the Criminal Division’s Obscenity Prosecution Task Force, Goldman could serve as many as five years in prison and pay a fine of as much of $250,000 for each of the eight counts against him. The initial investigation into the case was conducted by the FBI’s Adult Obscenity Squad, based in Washington, DC.
