objectCube Upgrades Platform to Support iPad Streaming
YNOT — Video technology provider objectCube has upgraded its video-on-demand platform to support streaming to the Apple iPad.According to the company, the entire objectCube system was designed in transparent HTLM5 and delivers resources studios and website owners need to keep their content formats current.
“If your site already displays video, you already have all the infrastructure you need to take advantage of this massive new revenue stream,” objectCube Chief Technology Officer and founder Jay Janarthanan said.
Janarthanan, who worked for Sun Microsystems before founding objectCube in 2002, is convinced the iPad will revolutionize the way consumers purchase and view adult content.
“The way people watch movies from all genres is about to change drastically, thanks to the innovations the iPad offers,” he said. “For the first time, viewers will be able to easily access multimedia content using an always-on device that offers the convenience of television and the full functionality of advanced monitors. The new objectCube system allows users to watch movies using pay-per-view, pay-per-minute or monthly membership modes and serves as the perfect transitional gateway for adult video viewers as they migrate from their desktops to their iPads.”
Janarthanan also said his company has specialized in secure web-based video delivery since its launch. In fact, he noted, objectCube developed the VOD software now used by “nearly 90 percent of the adult industry.”
“Since its inception, objectCube has been focused on delivering on the promise of video over broadband networks,” he said. “Our goal is a world beyond basic internet connectivity — a place where customers can watch any video regardless of where they live, and objectCube will deliver it.”
objectCube’s end-to-end solution allows content producers to protect and sell their products to end-users without worrying about piracy or hiring large IT staffs. Content is delivered via streams or downloads, time-locked if desired, and incorporates DVD-quality video and CD-quality audio. Content owners can elect to deliver their content to televisions, set-top boxes, game consoles, personal computers and iPads.
“As an end-to-end service provider, we do the encoding, hosting, payment processing, delivery, [digital rights management] and reporting, all for one reasonable fee,” Janarthanan said.
