NYC’s ‘Kinky Film Festival’ Calls for Entries
YNOT – CineKink NYC, “the kinky film festival,” will celebrate its eighth occurrence March 1-6, 2011. In the meantime, festival organizers seek films and videos of any length and genre that explore and celebrate the diversity of sexuality.Dedicated to the recognition and encouragement of sex-positive and kink-friendly depictions in film and television, CineKink attempts to blur boundaries. Consequently, “We will be considering offerings drawn from both Hollywood and beyond, with works ranging from documentary to drama, camp comedy to hot porn, mildly spicy to quite explicit — and everything in between,” a festival statement noted.
In previous years, topics covered at CineKink have included BDSM, leather and fetish, swinging, non-monogamy and polyamory, role-playing and gender bending, sex work and sex geekery. According to spokesman Lisa Vandever, subjects are limited only by the imaginations of the filmmakers.
“Basically, as long as it involves consenting adults, just about anything celebrating sex as a right of self expression is fair game,” she said.
CineKink NYC offers curated screenings along with a short-film competition, audience choice awards, a special adult entertainment showcase, presentations, parties and a gala kick-off. A national screening tour will follow.
Entries postmarked by Nov. 5 will be subject to discounted entry fees. The standard deadline is Nov. 26, and the final deadline is Dec. 10.
