NY Post Discusses ‘Booming’ Impact of COVID-19
Miami, FL — Miami-based performer Joslyn Jane was recently featured in a New York Post story examining the “silver lining” some sex workers have found during the Coronavirus. The story, titled “Business booming for cam girls amid coronavirus outbreak,” also features insights from Kate Kennedy and Tyler Faith.
Writer Sara Dorn noted that, “coronavirus isn’t the only thing causing temperatures to rise across the globe.” (What?) At at time when public events are being cancelled and governments are urging against physical contact, “business is booming for sexy solo performers as millions of holed-up horndogs look to relieve their outbreak anxiety.” (That phrasing…)
“Many are feverish with anticipation,” Dorn wrote in a manner typical of the Post.
Jane is quoted regarding the beneficial aspects of online porn. She stated that, during this time of fear, uncertainty and isolation, “there is a lot going on… And we are definitely taking fans’ minds off this.”
Jane claimed a 62 percent weekly increase in tips and sales on her OnlyFans account and ManyVids store. Per the Post, “she has raked in about $1,700 a week in tips and sales, up from an average of $1,050.”
“I’m always very open to talk to the press about issues that affect sex workers’ lives and livelihoods, and to have the opportunity to present us as the entrepreneurs and small business owners that we are,” said Jane. “I’m grateful to the New York Post for taking the time to depict the coronavirus situation through a less pessimistic prism than a lot of the media coverage.”
Also featured in the story are Kennedy — who, like Jane, reported a significant revenue increase while engaged in her comforting endeavors during the pandemic — and veteran performer and feature dancer Faith.
The story noted that, “not all sex workers are raking in the corona cash. Strippers who get up close and personal with clientele are ditching the pole and singing the COVID-19 blues.” Faith stated, “I have decided to stay as far away from all clubs… I have canceled quite a few appearances. Have to be safe in these times.”
