Nude Club Owner Vows Dancers Won’t Cover Up
LAKE COUNTY, FL — The only strip club in Lake County, FL, isn’t about to participate in a cover-up, especially when what officials want covered is the dancers’ enticing body parts.David Wasserman, owner of Fantasy Gentlemen’s Club, has filed a lawsuit against the county alleging violation of constitutional rights. The county’s new sexually oriented business ordinances forbids nudity, and Wasserman said he believes the rules infringe upon his dancers’ constitutionally protected right to free expression.
Wasserman also included his landlord in the lawsuit, because he said he believes the landlord colluded with county officials to revoke Fantasy’s adult-entertainment license.
Lake County isn’t the only Florida area experiencing an uproar over textile-free zones. In mid-September, Orange County investigators acted quickly to preserve truth, decency and the Florida way when they cracked down on Baby Dolls, a cabaret along the Orange Blossom Trail. Officers arrested 10 people, including several who were not nude in violation of county ordinances.
In August, the city of Daytona Beach similarly preserved citizens’ virtue when it forbade the Pink Pony from offering nude entertainment under penalty of a $5,000-per-day fine.
