Note to Horny Dudes: 911 is Not a Phone-Sex Number
TAMPA, Fla. – Gentlemen: Your abysmal sex life and lack of foresight, even combined, do not constitute an emergency. A Tampa man learned that the hard way Wednesday when he made five sexually explicit calls to 911 because that was the only number his cell phone would dial after he exceeded his allotment of minutes.According to police, Joshua Basso placed the calls in rapid succession even after the dispatcher repeatedly hung up on him. During the calls, he made sexual comments to the female dispatcher and asked if he could come to her house.
Officers arrested Basso, 29, at his home within 15 minutes of the fifth call. He was charged with making a false 911 call and is being held without bail in the Tampa jail.
Basso, who reportedly told officers he didn’t think he could get in trouble for calling 911, is no stranger to lockup. Jail records indicate he has an arrest record for theft and other crimes dating to 2001.
