Nob Hill Pornitopia Festival Celebrates Indie Porn
ALBUQUERQUE, NM — There’s not much time left to get your tickets to tonight’s Pornitopia film festival at Albuquerque, NM’s Nob Hill Guild Theater – but those who do so will have the opportunity to expose themselves to high quality erotic films depicting people… exposing themselves… and more. The first-ever event is the brainchild of Molly Adler, who describes it as “literally an event where we are highlighting and showcasing independently made, higher quality erotic films on the big screen.”
The Guild Theater’s big screen has shown viewers art and foreign films for years, but theater owner Peter Conheim tells the local news media that it wasn’t always that way. Like many theaters that suffered audience losses during the 1970s, the Guild featured pornographic fare early in that decade.
Conheim believe that this return to the theater’s roots will be “terrific,” and adds that “a lot of people have been excited that we are doing this. They have a lot of support in the community.”
In an attempt to reach viewers who may be “turned off by the traditional porn or adult films,” Adler believes “Pornitopia is the alternative.”
Having made sure that the festival doesn’t violate any statutes, organizers will check ID as patrons enter the theater to see an assortment of art porn and documentaries about the adult entertainment industry.
Those who miss tonight’s performance will have Saturday and Sunday to catch up on what they missed. More details can be found at GuildCinema.com.
