BATON ROUGE, LA — The Louisiana Senate voted unanimously on Wednesday to deny the adult entertainment industry tax credits provided to mainstream filmmakers under a state economic incentive plan.No porn producers have availed themselves of the program to date, according to state Sen. A.G. Crowe [R-Slidell], but lawmakers wanted to make sure none tried. To that end, they codified a ban on credits to any companies that make films subject to 18 U.S.C. §2257, the federal labeling and recordkeeping act.

Senators also codified extra incentives for makers of G-rated fare: Under Crowe’s bill, production investments of more than $300,000 in “family friendly films” qualify for an increased tax credit of 27-percent. Previously, the credit was 25-percent.

The bill now awaits a vote in the Louisiana House.
