No Sex for Aussie Nudists
QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA — The Australian lifestyle organization representing naturists has issued an edict to its members: Enjoy yourselves in the buff, but no screwing in public. The guideline is one of the principles listed on the newly launched website of the Australian Nudists Foundation (Aus-Nude.org.au). The group found the rule necessary after popular nudist resort White Cockatoo became the center of international controversy when a “mini-riot” erupted between clothed and naked guests during a month-long swinger party. Australian naturists appear divided over whether sex and social nudism can or should co-exist.
“Naturists enjoy social nudity, but like everyone else they keep their sex life private,” ANF Secretary Paul Brown told the Courier Mail newspaper. “Many people erroneously believe that our lifestyle has sexual overtones. That couldn’t be further from the truth, and we constantly have to remind people that we do nothing naked that you don’t do fully clothed.”
The edict covers both official and unofficial nudist beaches and other public places, many of which are listed on the organization’s website.
Brown said naturists constantly fight the notion that nudity itself is pornographic and that social nudists possess loose morals. Nothing could be further from the truth, he noted.
“You won’t encounter overt sex or swinging at any ANF-affiliated club,” he told the Courier Mail.
