Manga Game “Nightmare x Vampire: Inferno of Retribution” Coming Oct. 19
Game development studio Guilty will release its new horror game title Nightmare x Vampire: Inferno of Retribution for PC via the MangaGamer platform late next week, according to a recent announcement. The release date is set for Thursday, October 19.
Nightmare x Vampire: Inferno of Retribution is a sequel to Nightmare x Onmyoji: Paradox of Forbiddance, which was first released in Japan under the title Nightmare x Vampire: Fukushuu no Inferno in 2021. Now, the “visual novel” is coming wet for players to catch up on the narrative.
The new game tells the story of Kidzuki Rei, who lost her parents as a young girl. Rei’s grandfather hails from a line of Romanian vampires, but she doesn’t have enough vampire blood to readily distinguish her from other humans.
Rei’s father, a master swordsman, left her with a single token to remember him by: a wooden sword. His skills live on through her though, and she puts them to use frequently to take revenge on the demons who have long tortured her family.
Rei soon meets a girl at school, Setsuna Shindo, who happens to be an exorcist – and an enemy of the same demons for which Rei is constantly on the hunt. The two have quite different approaches to hunting demons, and often find themselves at odds with each other. Nevertheless, they cannot help but respect each other’s skills and eventually grow closer while pursuing their common enemies. Their growing friendship and camaraderie aren’t enough to guarantee success, of course, and their campaign is always on the razor’s edge of failure.
With a pre-publication list price of $29.95, Nightmare x Vampire: Inferno of Retribution will be available October 19 for Windows, with support for Windows 8, 10 and 11. The game’s text is in English, and it carries an 18+ rating.
