New Site Claims Breakthrough in Social Media Monetization
VENICE, Calif. – Socializing via social media is a Digital Age must for marketers. The medium allows brands and individuals to connect with customers and potential customers in a way previously unavailable.
Social media interaction can raise brand awareness in all sorts of intangible ways. Still, many marketers would feel better about the time they spend tweeting, posting to Facebook and sharing on other channels if the channels showed a more tangible return on investment.
A new social service claims to have the answer. SnapGirlz, a mobile app that connects users with Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram, enables users to make money from their social media interactions by charging fans a monthly fee in exchange for exclusive content not shared with the public. The company and the performer share the revenue.
“SnapGirlz is a social media fan engagement company whose mission is to help talent monetize their social following,” SnapGirlz Chief Executive Officer Nick Stone said. “Imagine a sexy, X-rated mobile reality show — then throw in a bunch of bubble baths, showers, toys, bed talk, tanning, outdoor adventures and karaoke, and over time you’ll almost feel like you’re in a relationship with [the performer]. It’s a lot of fun.”
The system works on a subscription basis; subscriptions per performer are capped at 3,000 followers. According to Stone, the fan limit ensures exclusivity and intimacy when participating performers share their SnapGirlz content. The company advises performers to share via the service twice daily. Content may be hardcore or softcore.
“SnapGirlz is intended to allow stars to connect with their fans in a fun, different and intimate way,” Stone said, adding that the service is bidirectional: members can message the performers, too. “Fans get access they would never have gained otherwise, and performers have the financial incentive to keep that relationship strong and fresh.
“There is definitely a symbiotic relationship developing between girls and their fans, as well as a greater degree of interactivity than even we’d originally envisioned,” he continued. “Most of the talent enjoy looking at the inbound snaps they get from their members and often snap a message back when they can.”
