New ‘Holographic Porn’ Lets Users be the Star
HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. – With the launch of a new “holographic porn” platform, fans who’ve fantasized about starring in a video now can approximate their wish.
Tech startup PrimaVR has developed a product it claims will allow viewers to become part of the action “in the privacy of their own homes and without the fear of STDs.” Using Oculus Rift’s virtual reality headset and the company’s PrimaPlayer application viewers can insert their hands and other body parts right into the action. PrimaVR utilizes a Leap Motion stereo camera to accomplish the feat.
“We knew that being able to see your own body in the virtual world was important, but we didn’t realize how much it adds to the immersion until we tried it,” said PrimaVR spokesperson Anton Bailey. “You can come up with your own narrative and choose how you behave with the hologram actors. This allows people to fulfill their most intimate fantasies safely with holograms.”
PrimaPlayer can incorporate any body part the user can see into the hologram video. An explicit demonstration video demonstrates how the action looks on-screen.
“We wanted our users to be able to see their own body instead of generic 3D avatars,” Bailey said. “It looks a lot more realistic and is more relatable.”
Although the PrimaVR’s product does not allow the holographic performer to recognize the user’s presence and react, Bailey said the company is working to make such an experience possible.
“It’s very technology-intensive, and the image quality still needs to improve,” he said. “I expect that in the future we’ll have fully interactive holograms that respond to our touch and vocal expressions.”
Perhaps one day viewers will be able to deliver cheesy lines — to accompany the cheesy porn music used in the current demos — and the holograms will respond with classic “pizza boy” dialogue of their own.
