New Hampshire Man Charged with Porn Site Dialer Fraud
KANSAS CITY, MO – Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon has charged New Hampshire resident Michael Walczak with fraudulent billing practices and allegedly charging Missouri residents for accessing adult websites that they did not visit.According to Boston.com, a lawsuit was filed in Jackson County Circuit Court charging Walczak with fraud, deception and unfair trade practices. The suit seeks $1000 per incident in fines, repayment of monies to any consumers who were wrongfully charged, and a court order blocking Walczak from engaging in similar business activities in the future.
The dispute seems to center on an internet dialer application, which is an alternative to credit card billing that has been widely abandoned by legitimate adult entertainment companies due to its common use by fraudsters and scam artists. According to the suit, Walczak tried to collect from 59 Missouri customers who were allegedly the victim of a dialer that was installed on their computers without their knowledge. The dialer application then made expensive international phone calls, which the consumers disputed after they received their phone bills.
Walczak’s businesses, also named in the suit, include Phoenix One Billing LLC, and National One Telecom, Inc.
Walczak could not be reached for comment.
