Netflix Releases ‘The Principles of Pleasure’ Docuseries
Los Angeles, CA — Netflix recently released a three-part limited docuseries titled The Principles of Pleasure. The series includes an exploration of the stigma of female sexuality.
Narrated by comedian Michelle Buteau, the series digs deep into the social mores and “dirty minds” that, in part, shape modern women’s sexual attitudes, desires, identities and behavior. Support comes from a myriad of voices that simply speak their personal truths about erotic pleasure.
The episodes titles and foci follow:
Episode One: “Our Bodies” uncovers the realities and misconceptions surrounding the female orgasm
Episode Two: “Our Minds” unlocks the secrets of eroticism and the brain, the highs and lows of hormones and the powerful mind-body connection
Episode Three: “Our Relationships” unveils the sexual possibilities of partnerships, with topics that range from turn-ons (and turn-offs) to consent
The Principles of Pleasure features an array of sex-positive educators and advocates. These include Dirty Lola (dirtylola.co), Erika Lust (erikalust.com), Ericka Hart (ihartericka.com), Emily Nagoski, PhD (emilynagoski.com), Danielle Bezalel, MPH (sexedwithdb.com), Dr. Lori Brotto (loribrotto.com), Allison P. Davis (itsallisondavis.com), Dr. Nicole Prause, PhD, (liberoscenter.com) and Gina Nicole Brown (ginabrown.com).
“Everybody — and every body — deserves pleasure. Many people are excluded and feel unseen when it comes to having pleasure, and this series was made for those of us who have historically been left out of these experiences,” said Lola. “We are not only talking about culturally diverse cis women, but trans women, gender-diverse and non-binary folks too. Pleasure is for ALL of us.”
