Naughty America Denies College Trademark Violation
SIOUX FALLS, SD — Rumor has it that South Dakota is a bit socially conservative. Whether that is the case or not, at least one college in the state is very offended by the thought that it might somehow be confused with a popular porn company. National American University has accused Naughty American University of trademark violations and cyber piracy.
Why?
Because NAU apparently belongs exclusively to the South Dakota college and no modifying words beginning with “n” can be placed before the words “American University” due to the college’s use.
Or so seems to be the contention.
La Touraine, Inc., the Nevada corporation with offices in San Diego, CA responded to the charges, brought by parent company Dlorah, Inc., this week. While the company admits that it operates under the name “Naughty American University,” it denies that it’s committing any wrong by doing so.
National American University has 16 physical campuses in South Dakota, Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico and Texas. It also offers online degrees.
