YNOT – It is difficult to write an intro for a friend; even more so if the friend is a celebrity like Nacho Vidal. Nacho is a good friend to his friends and, of course, a good lover to his lovers. He is the ultimate Spanish sex symbol, the Iberian machismo ideal in the flesh.
Born 38 years ago to a wealthy Spanish family, he spent most of his youth in Valencia. Before entering the world of adult entertainment at 21, he played with a punk-rock band, boxed and enlisted in the Spanish Legion. His career as a porn star began when venerable producer-director, José María Ponce, discovered him at Barcelona’s infamous live-sex club, Bagdad. Four years later, Italian Stallion Rocco Siffredi introduced Vidal to the U.S. adult industry, where his Latin machismo proved equally popular.
During a prolific 17-year career, Vidal has performed in more than 1,500 adult movies. Though he began producing and directing for Evil Angel in 2000, he said he does not intend to stop performing.
In addition to porn, his resume also includes mainstream Spanish TV series Los Simuladores and the Spanish movies Va a ser que nadie es perfecto and El Alquimista Impaciente.
That’s how the outside world defines Nacho Vidal. But how does Vidal define Vidal? Although he’s a man of few words, we asked and he answered.
YNOT.com: From the stage at Barcelona’s Bagdad to popular icon, how would you define your career?
Nacho Vidal: Ascending. Always up.
When was your biggest test — your trial by fire as a performer?
When I could not work in the United States and had to work with unprofessional people.
Everyone wants to know: How many women have you made love with?
It’s impossible to count.
Are you a rebellious actor and a gentle lover, or vice versa?
I’m an actor and a loving, gentle rebel.
Are there times when you would prefer to be just another anonymous face in the crowd instead of “Nacho Vidal, Porn Star?”
Yes, especially when I go out at night. Every time I go to a concert in Europe, I am recognized and I must be “on.” In the U.S., they leave me alone.
Who has influenced your career?
Jazmine, Belladonna, Rocco Siffredi, John Stagliano, José María Ponce and others.
What was your most difficult scene?
The one I did in winter with Jazmine and another girl. We were in London. It was extraordinary, but I thought I was going to freeze to death!
With which scene did you have the most fun?
The entire Killer Pussy series by New Sensations. I worked with some other great Spanish performers: Toni Ribas, Max Cortés, Teo-Franco Roccaforte.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering porn as a career?
If they live in Spain, I would tell them to think about it a lot before they make the decision. If they live in the U.S., I would say “Go for it!”
What’s next for you? Any major career moves?
I plan to stay in the U.S. until the end of my career.
What about the internet? You are developing several online projects, true?
I’m writing a reality show that will be broadcast on my site, NachoVidal.com.
Is it your own production?
Of course! There are things nobody but me would dare to do.
