Mr. Skin Acquires Fleshbot
CHICAGO – Mr. Skin parent company SK Intertainment has acquired popular adult blog Fleshbot from owner and editor Lux Alptraum. Details about the transaction have not been made public.
“Fleshbot is a site we’ve followed for years and one that fits in nicely with our growth plan,” said SK Intertainment Chief Operating Officer Sam Rakowski. “We are excited to leverage our talent and resources to improve an already well-established product. Both readers and partners of the site can expect big improvements in the coming months.”
Alptraum said she intends to move on to other ventures, but she will remain a contributor to the site, which she acquired from Gawker Media in 2012.
Gawker launched the site in 2003, building it into a cheeky, edgy take on sex in popular culture. The site’s ability to straddle a thin line between adult and mainstream fascinated traditional media, generating profiles in publications including Wired and the New Yorker.
Under Alptraum’s ownership, the site abandoned all aspirations to mainstream respectability, becoming increasingly hardcore in the material it posted. In March 2013, the brand branched out with the launch of an erotic fiction imprint.
“After six years of working with Fleshbot, I’m excited to move on to new challenges,” Alptraum said. “I know that SK Intertainment will take the site to brand-new heights, and I’m thrilled to be leaving it in such capable hands.”
Fleshbot joins MrSkin.com, MrMan.com and NakedNews.com in the SK Intertainment stable of adult websites.
