‘Mr. Angel’ to Premiere at SXSW
YNOT – Six years in the making, a documentary chronicling the extraordinary life of a controversial transgender advocate, educator and porn pioneer is scheduled to debut at one of the most prestigious film festivals in the U.S.
Mr. Angel is a few-holds-barred look at the life of Buck Angel. Born a woman, Angel’s disgust with a world that forced him to embrace an accident of birth led to years of despair, homelessness, suicide attempts and substance abuse before he became the man he always knew he was meant to be.
Angel’s in-your-face style of activism and his insistence that he is “a man who happens to have a vagina” frequently outrage social conservatives. Mr. Angel, a full-length, independent film by Dan Hunt, examines Angel’s life public and private lives as he challenges the adult entertainment industry, reunites with his parents and spends time at home with his wife and their seven dogs. Ultimately, the story is inspirational in the way it presents rare perseverance and a complex, unlikely hero.
The world premier of Mr. Angel is scheduled to take place at 7:30 p.m. March 9 during the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
